Citibus to Launch First Phase of 5-Year Service Plan Beginning September 28

Updated service will improve access to neighborhoods, employment, healthcare, shopping, and education across Lubbock

Citibus is pleased to announce the launch of Phase One of its approved 5-Year Service Plan, adopted in November 2024. This first phase introduces one brand-new route and three redesigned routes that incorporate and streamline portions of existing routes, resulting in a more efficient and connected network for riders. The updated route network will begin operating on Monday, September 28, 2026.

These service enhancements demonstrate Citibus’ ongoing commitment to providing safe, reliable, and accessible transportation while strengthening connections to major destinations across Lubbock.

Phase One includes the following new and redesigned routes:

· Route 205 (Pink): A new route extending from North Indiana through Texas Tech University and Covenant to South Quaker and 122nd Street, expanding transit access to South Lubbock.

· Route 025 (Purple): Formerly Route 6, this redesigned route combines portions of existing service to improve connections between Parkway Drive, Dunbar, 50th Street, and South Plains Mall.

· Route 211 (Green): A redesigned route connecting Cherry Point to West End via 4th Street, incorporating segments of previous routes to provide improved connectivity.

· Route 214 (Red): A modernized route serving Sunrise Canyon along 19th Street to West End, combining portions of existing routes to create a more direct and convenient travel option.

Together, these improvements deliver more direct, frequent, and reliable connections to neighborhoods, employment centers, schools, healthcare facilities, shopping destinations, and other key community resources. Phase One marks a major milestone in building a stronger, more accessible transit network for the Lubbock community.
